ACTED: COMMUNITY DRIVEN RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2025 completed
The college trained 152 Agriculture Extension Advisors (102 Males, 44 Females) on climate smart agriculture, Participatory Agriculture Extension, Facilitation Skills. (CSA) is an approach to farming that addresses the challenges of food security and climate change simultaneously. Here are some major topics within CSA that we covered during the training
- Sustainable Land and Water Management: Conservation agriculture, crop rotation, cover cropping, Efficient water use (drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, Soil health improvement (composting, agroforestry)
- Climate-Resilient Crop Varieties: Breeding and cultivating crops tolerant to drought, floods, pests and diseases management, Promoting biodiversity in cropping systems
- Agroforestry and Ecosystem Services: Integrating trees into agricultural land escapes Enhancing pollination, carbon sequestration, and pest control through biodiversity
- Livestock and Pasture Management: Sustainable grazing practices Improved feed and fodder management Reducing methane emissions from livestock
- Renewable Energy and Low-Carbon Practices: Utilizing solar, wind, and biogas energy for farming operations Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural activities
- Integrated Pest and Disease Management: Using biological control methods and resistant crop varieties Minimizing chemical pesticide use to preserve ecosystems
- Sustainable Value Chains and Markets: Promoting local food systems Reducing food loss and waste through improved storage and processing
- Farmer Education and Capacity Building: Training programs on CSA practice Empowering farmers through technology and knowledge sharing
- Facilitation skills
- Participatory Agriculture Extension services
